We are hurtling through November and already this month there has been 2 days of significant importance to remember.

“Remember remember,

the 5th of November,

Gunpowder, treason and plot” …. the old ditty used to go when I was a child to remind us of the reason behind bonfire night was the plot to blow up the parliament with kegs of gunpowder by a certain man by the name of Guy Fawkes and his friends in years long gone by.

Sunday was Remembrance Sunday, a day to commemorate those fallen and honouring those who made sacrifices in defence of their country during the Second World War. This year Remembrance Sunday coincided with Armistice Day marking one hundred years since the end of the First World War also known as the Great War. Millions of people laid down their lives that we may have today.

We will remember them.

As well as remembering the multitude of people who gave their all for us, I would like us to remember the one who gave His life for all.

Jesus Christ, the one whom laid down His life that we may have life, a life to the full, if we might only pick it up.

Jesus Christ, the Holy Bible says, who knew no sin, poured out His blood, was crushed for our iniquities, was crucified and rose again on the third day.

The Gospel of John verse 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Amen.

This one verse is the most renowned verse in the whole bible, the verse that to many sums up the bible in short, the Gospel of Jesus Christ in one line!

In the part that says ” that whoever believes in Him”.. the whoever means me and you, the Gospel is open to us all, as Christ died for all our sins, but we have to believe, and how do we believe, well that is faith. The bible says in the book of Romans, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” And the word of God is the Holy Bible. Many people say that they have “faith”, but if it is not based on the Word of God that Jesus Christ is LORD of all, and that God has raised Him from the dead, then it is no faith at all, it is a man made faith that is worthless and whose only direction when uncovered is a road to hell.

The only road to heaven is believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and as the bible says that “whoever” believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Amen.

Now that is certainly worth remembering.

God bless.
