Then Jesus said, “I am the light of the world”
From the very beginning when God said “Let there be light” in Genesis 1:3, we have looked to the light to push out the darkness. Because light is the power to overcome darkness, it is not the mere absence of darkness that is light. No, the light is the life giving, breathing power of good, that comes from good, that is God. When Jesus said that ‘He is the light of the world’ and that “He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12b, that is what He meant. That He is the light of the world. Later in John 9:5, we find one of the seven great ‘I AM’ statements;
“As long as I am in the world, I AM the light of the world.” Amen.
So what is today’s darkness? Anything that is evil, sin, murderous, anything that is not bringing glory to God is not light. But there are major threats of global proportions in this present day whose plan and purpose is twofold. Global domination and the complete eradication of Christianity. These two enormous onslaughts come under very different guises.
- Islam – The demonic man-made religion is the very spearhead of darkness across the world today. Brutal murderous acts smearing terror and fear across the globe.
- Liberalisation – It is this very act at the centre of the western world that has brought the breakdown of the walls of social and moral structure. The turning away from God’s laws to man-made laws is far and wide. The uniting of man and woman together in relationship and marriage and love has been broken across the world. The marriage of same sex relations may look harmless to many in the ‘name of love,’ but it is against the Bible. God’s holy word, and the hidden agenda behind, that when you see under the cloak of this you find people like George Soros, the self-proclaimed ‘god,’ whose plan is the depopulation of mankind to spearhead a “New World Order.”
I try not to delve into politics, sometimes it is necessary.
For the next few days my friend Andrew is visiting, and last night we had a game of chess. I presume later tonight we will have another. I sometimes use the pieces of chess as a visual image to help me simplify the perspective of something. I like to simplify things if I can. The eternal message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified on the cross, dead, buried, rose again and seated at the right hand of the Father, is a simple gospel message for us all.
So here are a couple of examples that I have used;
Daniel 3. King Nebuchadnezzar had had built a gold image of himself that at the time of hearing the music of the harp, flute, lyre and horn etc.. all the people would immediately fall down and worship lest they should be cast into the fiery furnace. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to fall down and worship, regardless of the consequence. They looked to God first in all things. And in 3:16 they say to the king that they had no need to answer in this matter, and here was the key. That they did not look at the consequence of punishment from the king. It didn’t matter if it was the hottest fiery furnace, they looked through that as if it was not there to look to God first. REGARDLESS of the threat. Now that is faithfulness.
In Romans 3:20-21 we read that it is faith in Jesus Christ alone. That is the justification that we are saved, for all have sinned. So it matters not one jot or iota of works, for that would be under law and we are saved by His grace. So it doesn’t matter if I think I am a king or a pawn. It is only the belief in Christ Jesus who did all the work on the cross and died for me.
In that same faith in Christ Jesus only, remember it is not our trust in the teachings of the priest (bishop) that we rely on for our salvation, nor is it in the church as the building (castle) but in Christ jesus.
Don’t forget in Jude 23/24 we read; “And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire.”
Ephesians 5:8 says; “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light.”
God bless
