For the last couple of days I have been struggling to come up with a plan for reading and studying the Bible. Without putting pen to paper and formulating or calculating a plan there have been many considerations to take into account. When to start, when to finish, how much per day is acceptable, will it be book by book or daily overview, should there be a rest day, what day will that be, should there be a separation of the 7 categories, should the Old testament finish at the end of 2017 and the New testament start at the start of the new year 2018, will it be 12 weeks, 3 months etc …

The more I thought about it, the more potentially confusing it became? As well as for me, I intend to read it straight from the bible. Hear it on cd, watch about it on a study dvd and read about it from 2 different formats, a commentary and a recommended book .

At just after 4 am, I am awoke with a start. Its pitch black dark and I am really groggy. But that clears instantaneously as the Holy Spirit makes a clear plan of when to start, when to finish, and it is crystal clear and delivered to me. My own thought was to run downstairs to write it down and check if it fits. But I was completely assured that it would fit perfectly and was so comfortable in that, I praised and thanked the Lord and fell back soundly to sleep! So soundly that I awoke over an hour after daybreak which is completely unusual for me!

I have checked it today and lo and behold it fits perfectly!

So , from Monday the 13th of November 2017, I invite you to participate alongside and read through the whole bible yourself. It will take approximately 1 hour per day. That’s all, for 11 weeks, finishing on Sunday 28th of January 2018. This will be based on 6 days per week. I shall be taking each Saturday off, to rest, relax or explore around. The whole plan takes 77 days from start to end with 10 days off in between.

Please give some serious consideration if you would like to read alongside with others to strengthen and support you. If you have never read through it wholly or if you are considering reading through it again, please join us.

You can split your hour a day up into different sections , say 3 x 20 mins, or 4 x 15 mins say, it doesn’t matter, its up to you .

Many people have started reading plans for a year, or similar, and for one reason or another, given up or something happened. That’s why I believe that a shorter time overall is better for many people so that its more manageable. Give it some thought. Please pray about it, its only an hour a day and I shall post more details tomorrow.

In other news, I used to think I knew what quiet was. I have lived on a quiet street on my own for several years. The reality is , I have never been anywhere in the world as quiet as here. It takes silence to a new unbelievable level. There is no “white noise“, no traffic noise in the distance, all you can hear is nature itself! How very wonderful is that? Sat outside, you can hear birds in the distance. Its difficult to judge their distance at first with no background noise. The clarity of hearing anything is so distinct and sharp. I have remarked it must be like Lee Majors in The 6 Million dollar man with his bionic ears! We walked down to the serene little village today to stretch our legs and on the way there I had to cough. I found myself apologising to my surroundings at breaking the silence!

Bertie got a treat today, for being such a good boy, adapting to travelling around with me. Being in new surroundings, I don’t know what he thinks to it all , but he really has done rather well.  So I got him a selection of meaty bones. Mmmm, he was really excited when he saw them. I decided to play “hide and seek“ with him. I got him to stay whilst I went and hid one of the juicy bones down near the barn, then called him. He soon realised and went off sniffing and scurrying around. It didn’t take him long to get his reward, he really is good boy.

Today we have also ordered some tracts in French for me to distribute, will let you know more when they arrive.
