The Bells, The Bells

The bells the bells!

As we traveled from Dunkirk through to the outskirts of Normandy on our eventual way to Brittany to study the whole bible. It came across me how much easier it is to drive long distances through France. The roads maybe narrower and have less lanes but the expansive views as the Autoroutes and roads cut through this vast countryside with a definitive ease. For those old enough to have seen plenty of the films or old newsreels, it doesn’t take much imagination to conjure up images of battle scenes in the fields or towns of our Gallic friends from across the water from either of the 2 world wars. In fact, would be directors with a quick shift of a few cars could start filming almost straightaway.

The sun was shining brightly as we passed farmers gathering their crops. The colours of the autumn scenery start to slowly fade, it was still a rather balmy 22°, remarkable for November. We headed into Neufchatel en bray, northeast of Rouen, in need of some refreshment and looking for a specific place to park the motor-home. In a rare moment, I had decided to “ splash out “ and PAY to park up so that I could use the facilities, specifically the shower. We found the campsite, it was lovely. 10 individual plots just for motor-homes. Fantastic, I could see it now, table and chair set up outside for the afternoon, bit of study, Bertie lying in the sun. I checked out the facilities before driving through the barrier. Everything was automatic, unmanned. Spotless. Electric hookup, wifi , all for €12.

It wasn’t.

Except , the shower was out of order and I have no need for electric hookup, Abba father supplies mine with the sun going through the solar panels. I saved the money, part of it was spent on treating Bertie to some bones.

Earlier we had walked over a wide, what appeared to be long, cycle/exercise path. I saw people cycling , running, walking along, some type of none snow grass ski speeding along. Later I came across the same path with a signboard up saying how this track had been developed to give many this opportunity to use it for sport etc… It’s 40km long! Runs up the Rouen valley all the way to the sea at Dieppe!

It wasn’t.

It was then I noticed a familiar looking building, typical of a railway station, this wasn’t a purpose built track for all to use. It was actually, they had taken the trains off them for whatever reason and put gravel and grass over the track and renamed it, as for their enjoyment!

Then I walked up to the centre, following the spire of a big church when it came into full view The Bells struck 5 , it was staggeringly beautiful. I found the information plate, it was le eglise de Notre Dame, it couldn’t be THE church could it? I looked at it, it was over 600 years old . I googled it!

It wasn’t!

None of these things and countless others have any real significance in what they are or aren’t, they are real but just daily examples of how things are often not what they seem.

We can be sure of Jesus , who was , and is , and is to come.

Although its good to use our imagination in many things, God is The creator God  and He made us in His likeness. Using our creative abilities and skills is important for growth and development in the Holy faith. It’s also important not to rely on the things of this world but to wholly rely on Him for everything, for He is truth, and we find that in the Holy word of God in Johns gospel chapter 16:13- 14“. However, when He, the spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak : and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify me, for He will take what is Mine and declare it to you.“ Amen

When things are not what they are supposed to be, don’t let it affect you, God is still God and He cant help if YOU are in the way.

Be blessed and be a blessing to others
