Last night we had stopped at a beautiful little place near Harlaxton, south west of Grantham, by the side of Grantham canal. This morning, after a 5 mile walk it was necessary to recharge the batteries, literally, the sun was up and the solar panels were out.
Today was going to be about obedience. A few weeks ago I had put up quite a few things for sale on gumtree, I had a response for a hand held steamer, a small pressure cleaning tool, the price was cheap, it was pick up only. The potential buyer didn’t live locally and I was not prepared to pack it and post it, I didn’t have the spare time nor was it worth the effort. But people are worth the time and effort, everybody is important to God. I heard the Holy Spirit say ”take it personally”, “ deliver it “! I had absolutely no idea where the person lived, and even then I was stubborn. I contacted them with a simple message, knowing that there was very little chance, “ I am travelling soon, IF you live on my route, I MAY drive and deliver it ?”. There, that was the end of that I thought, at least I have tried, IF I had heard correctly?
I was not surprised when the reply came to say that they lived in Leicester which is where my kids grew up and was on my route, meaning that I had heard correctly but again I had tried not to.
So today, backed up with prayer for this potential God appointment, I set off to see what God had in store , I tried to go with an open mind, were they saved? Unsaved? Would they just exchange steamer for money on the doorstep and shut the door?
I put a gospel tract in the box just in case. There was a lot of IF’s, but I believed I was being obedient and when we are, Jesus goes before us and prepares the way.
The word of God, works in those who believe.
I was in constant prayer for the drive there. Jesus is Lord over this appointment.
After knocking, within 5 minutes I was sat down, cup of tea, sharing my testimony to a warm, welcoming South African married lady, who most importantly is a Spirit filled, born again Christian. After an hour Liz had told me her testimony, I told her about the Holy Spirit prompting me to come all this way, and I presumed there was a reason that God wanted her attention. Liz said that she knew what it was.
Sometimes God wants us to nudge people, we don’t need to see the outcome, that’s personal between the believer and God , like my relationship, but we were both blessed today.
